MISSING SOUNDS OF NEW YORK (2020)

Two months into the pandemic, the Library partnered with creative agency Mother New York to launch the album Missing Sounds of New York, a creative promotional project to give New Yorkers hope.

This immersive album, available on Spotify, brings together audio landscapes that evoke the sounds of New York City—cabs honking, kids playing at the park, chitchat on a crowded Midtown street, glasses clinking in restaurants, and of course, the sounds of a story time at the library. A love letter to NYC, it connected New Yorkers with the familiar sounds of urban life that they love and were missing during the unprecedented time of social separation.

The album received 400,000+ listens and coverage in more than 50 media stories.
